I’m sure you’ve been there before. You're sitting at home, thinking about your next hair appointment, and weighing up whether or not to make a massive change. Then, just as you get excited, a wave of hesitation hits you, and you decide against it.

Sound familiar? For many people, the fear of the unknown puts them off.

The main hurdle is finding the right stylist. If you already have a regular hairdresser, you might wonder: Are they truly equipped to create this specific, complex new look?

The Key to Knowing You Have the Right Stylist

When it comes to big transformations, you need to feel entirely confident in your stylist. It’s not just about their technical skill; it’s about their ability to connect with you, understand your hair anxieties, and communicate with transparency.

Ultimately, it all comes down to trust. Without trust, a major hair transformation is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

In my chair, I always talk through the entire process with a client wanting a change. I break it down using clear language that you'll actually understand—because, let’s face it, you shouldn't need a hairdressing degree just to sit in a salon chair!

How I Build Trust and Reassurance

During any transformation appointment, I make it a rule to:

As a colour and extension specialist, I am passionate about creating looks that are healthy, seamless, and exude luxury vibes.

Whether I'm working with bespoke balayage, glosses, premium weft extensions, tapes, or micro rings, I thrive on the details.

I love the "wow" moment when a client sees their transformation in the mirror—but I also love the pure science of breaking down a look and figuring out the exact technical roadmap to achieve it.

Top 3 Tips Before Your Hair Transformation Appointment

If you’re planning a major hair upgrade, doing these three things prior to your appointment will give you the absolute best chance of success:

1. Come with Clean Hair (The "Dirty Hair" Myth)

Whoever started the rumour that dirty hair is better for colouring needs to be spoken to! Please come to your appointment with clean hair.

Simply shampoo and condition the night before, and dry it thoroughly. Avoid applying heavy styling products afterwards, as these can create a barrier that makes hair colour lift unevenly or cause extension bonds to slip.

2. Bring Inspiration Pictures

There is a strange myth that stylists dislike reference photos, but images are actually the best tool we have.

They bridge the gap between words and visuals. Because everyone sees the same picture, your stylist won't have to guess what you mean by "warm blonde" or "subtle dimension."

We can see it instantly and suggest bespoke tweaks to suit your skin tone and lifestyle.

3. Be Completely Honest About Your Hair History

Telling a "little white lie" about your hair history just because you want a specific result can lead to a stressful process and, worst of all, severe hair damage.

If you have been box-dyeing your hair dark for two years, but you were blonde three years ago, your stylist needs to know.

The same goes for extensions. If you have experienced previous shedding or hair thinning, sharing that history helps your stylist choose the safest method for your scalp and hair health.
